I have my trail shoes for my 100km walk whoop whoop
I know getting the right shoes for running and long walks such as this 100k one I am doing are SO important. I usually go to Runners World for my running shoes as they do a gait analysis and then suggest a few styles of shoes to suit your gait.
As the service I have had for my running shoes has been so good, I thought I would go there for my trail shoes. I popped along one Sunday and tried a few on but was a bit undecided between two pairs I tried. As they are not cheap, I thought I would sleep on it and then go back with ones I decided on. BUT then Covid hit me just before Christmas so I couldn’t go. I was going on a trip to Brighton in early January so thought I would get them there. I went along and got the ones I had seen in London and love them. They are SO comfy and looked lovely – but it wasn’t long until they lost that “newness” look as I went on a Country Park Trail Walk while in Brighton. Well they wouldn’t stay new looking for long anyway lol
I took myself off to Stanmer Country Park which is a short bus ride away and a great place for walking. There were some very muddy and wet areas there due to recent rainfall – but it was good to be out in nature and checking out the new shoes, which are great.
I did a total of 17km on that walk plus some walking around Brighton and a total of 25,493 steps. Not a bad days walk.
I will check out the Ultra Challenge plan and work out a training plan with the km’s I need to get in each week as time goes on.
Outside of my training, I went on a long walk on 4th January. I had never been to Hove even though I have been to Brighton loads of times. I took a lovely walk along the sea front to Hove, had a long mooch around there and then back to my hotel. That day I walked 11.3km and 15,789 steps. Loving racking up my kms and steps

OK that’s my update on my 10k challenge for now. More to come……
