I got a gift voucher for Christmas so bought some “fancy pants” weighing scales that hook up to my phone via an app – so when I step on them, all the measurements go directly onto my phone and I can see updates for all sorts – weight, BMI, visercal fat, body fat and more.
Clearly my own made up eating plans haven’t been working as each year for last few years I have gained weight – maybe not popping into the cake shop for a brownie now and again might have helped! When I gave up alcohol, I seemed to crave sweet things (seems to be very common when giving up alcohol), so a treat of a chocolate brownie now and again seemed a good idea in place of wine……..but that then became a replacement habit for wine! That wasn’t a good move really.
I decided sweet things like cake, chocolate etc need to go on a temporary basis along with processed foods as I need to nourish my body – a brownie isn’t really doing that.
I found a long term popular plan to follow and have sorted out all the dishes I am going to make from scratch.
- Shopping list made
- Shopping done
- Batch cooking ……..here I come
- Oh and weight, measurements and photos taken – not for sharing but maybe at the end of the challenge I might just do that J
EXCITED to get going………..but I have also lost track of getting excited every time I start a weight loss journey.
Weeks two and three
YAY I lost 3lb in my first week and another 2lb in the following week – so I am VERY happy and feeling great.
I am working from home just now (due to restrictions in place) so that has made it easier as I am not walking by a shop where I can just “pick something up” …….like a danish pastry for instance!
I had no unhealthy foods indoors, had batch cooked some meals and was “on it”. So I just need to repeat what I am doing.
I am doing some exercise – more about that on my exercise blog
I lost about half pound more so more loss while eating three meals a day PLUS 3 inches lost from my waist. No craving for cake or processed “stuff” which is great J
I think my local cake shop have put a search party out for me lol
As I have these fancy pants weighing scales that link to the app on my phone, I have got on them most days just to check what is going on. I am not being obsessed with it but wanted to track what is going on. I noticed that although I have lost weight overall so far, the weight loss line is very up and down. In fact on some days I was lighter than I am today.
I am going to follow a more whole food plant based plan and have a new recipe book for this. I have attempted this in the past but not with any real focus so I am going to try harder this time – but will allow flexibility when I feel I need it. When I have eaten whole food and plant based I have FELT so much better – then sabotage myself.
My long term plan is that, at the end of this challenge, whole food plant based eating will be a standard thing for me and part of the normal thing for me to do – with flexibility and choice to eat other foods if/when I want to. I won’t feel I am on some restricted way of life if I leave those options there.
It’s a bit like my alcohol free journey. If I want to drink alcohol I can – there is no one to stop me from doing that. However, I choose to not drink alcohol. Like I am currently choosing not to have a chocolate brownie.
